Dave Burnham Visits Gene Winfield’s Citroën Reactor Car

November 23, 2008 by Denis

Ever since he was a lad, Dave Burnham has been fascinated with Gene Winfield and the Reactor car he built using the frame and hydraulics from a Citroën D Model . The car was built in 1964 and appeared in many TV shows. Dave traveled over 3,000 miles this summer to meet Gene and see the Reactor and learn more about it.

We are fortunate to have an article he wrote about the famous Reactor appearing in the next issue of the NEW Citroënthusiast newsletter. So everyone, be sure you get the 1st issue in January 2009. Call 740-392-8883 for more info.

Dave is an expert Citroen mechanic and restores Citroens in his shop in Delanson, NY. (When he’s not ice racing .) He built the Replica of Cogolin Pompiers 2CV , which is now in Jeff Lane’s Motor Musem in Nashville, TN.

along with his old ice racer "Pumpkin."

He’s also built cars for NYC runways, movies and more. Don’t miss his story!

    Hi
I just come from Gene Winsfield’s shop in Mojave last week. Gene is one of the most coolest person I ever met, really nice man. He show me the reactor which was stored next to his shop, it’s an amazing car, very interesting body style with is citroen Ds chassis under it.
Thanks again to Gene for being such a nice guy !
